Cortex EDI is a healthcare clearinghouse and cloud-based platform that allows providers and billing companies to submit electronic claims, receive electronic remittance advice, verify patient eligibility, and manage healthcare billing transactions with insurance payers.

After we receive your signup request, our team will typically contact you within a few business hours to begin the onboarding process. The full setup timeline depends on payer enrollment requirements, but many users can begin submitting claims shortly after onboarding is completed.
No, Cortex EDI is a cloud-based platform that can be accessed through a secure web browser. No additional software installation is required.
You can sign up for Cortex EDI's Electronic Biller — cloud-based practice management software if you do not yet have a software package, or you can continue using your existing practice management software.
We accept claim files in the following upload formats: .txt, .x12, .edi, .837, print image, and .csv.
No. Cortex EDI does not require contracts to use our services.

Claims, Payers & Enrollment

Cortex EDI supports standard electronic healthcare claim formats, including ANSI X12 837 claim files used for professional and institutional claims.
Accepted claim upload formats include .txt, .x12, .edi, .837, print image, and .csv.
Once your account setup is completed, you can typically begin submitting claims immediately for payers that do not require enrollment. For payers that require EDI enrollment, claims can be submitted after the enrollment process is approved.
Cortex EDI connects with a wide range of insurance payers across the United States. You can view supported payers on our Payer List page. If your payer is not currently listed, please contact our team. In many cases we are able to add new payers or assist with establishing connectivity.
Yes. For payers with a "Yes" in the Enrollment column on our Payer List — and for Medicare, most Medicaid programs, and most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans — you must complete the payer's required EDI enrollment before claims can be submitted electronically.
Yes. Cortex EDI accepts HIPAA-compliant ANSI 837 claim files for electronic submission. If your software does not create this format, we can also accept .txt, .x12, .edi, print image, and .csv formats for electronic submission.

Cortex EDI systems are designed to support compliance with HIPAA requirements. We implement administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect electronic protected health information (ePHI). We sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with each provider.
Data transmitted between users and Cortex EDI systems is encrypted using secure TLS encryption protocols. Sensitive data stored within our systems is protected using secure infrastructure and industry-standard security controls designed to prevent unauthorized access.
