How do I sign up with Cortex EDI?

How long does it take to get set up after Cortex EDI receives my signup form?

Once we receive the phone call or set up form from you, we will contact you to set up an appointment with one of our technical service representatives, usually within a few business hours.


Do I sign any contracts with Cortex EDI?

No, Cortex EDI does not have a contract for you to sign.


Do I need to have or purchase any software?

No. You can sign up for Cortex EDI’s Electronic Biller software if you do not yet have a software package, or you can use your existing practice management software. We accept the HIPAA compliant ANSI 837 format. However, if your software does not create this format, we also accept print-image files and csv files. We then convert your claims to the HIPAA required ANSI 837 format before they are sent to the insurance companies.


Which insurance companies can I send to electronically?

You can immediately send to hundreds of commercial payers on our Payer List. For payers with a “Yes” in the Enrollment column, and for Medicare, most Medicaids and most BCBS’s, you will need to complete the payer’s required EDI enrollment before you can send your claims electronically to them.


How do I receive the EDI enrollments for payers that require it and how long does the process take?

For all EDI enrollments, please call (800) 485-5977 or email info@cortexedi.com. The enrollment process can take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks, depending on the payer.


What other features are available through Cortex EDI?

Cortex EDI offers many features other than claims submission, including checking patient eligibility, tracking receivables and inventory, running custom reports. We continually add new features and improve existing services to meet our providers’ needs.


Are your systems HIPAA compliant?

Yes, our systems are HIPAA compliant, and we sign a HIPAA Business Associates Agreement with each provider.


What are your set up fees, monthly fees, and other fees?

There are no setup fees. Monthly fees are based on various factors, and on optional additional modules and features. There are no additional fees for customer service, technical support, and for initial training.
